Student Day at the Capitol

Our 'Day at the Capitol' activity is open to all BHS students and is sponsored by the BHS PTSA.

Students gather at the Capitol and watch as the legislative process unfolds! While touring the Capitol, House and Senate Buildings, students meet with elected representatives, learn about bills and even debate both sides and perspectives.

They are taught and receive the tools to know how to be informed citizens, watch public commentaries, and show how to respectfully listen to many sides of an issue. This experience helps not only educate but inspire students to understand how our government works, how bills effect their daily lives, and why our system of checks and balances is so vital to our Republic.
